Why do you love your job?
I truly love to help my clients realize their perfect home. The collaboration is invigorating. I always tell people that the process can be fun! In an overloaded, over-exposed life, home should be a place that’s uniquely suited to an individual or a family’s taste and needs. I’m continually inspired and challenged by the prospect of creating a space for someone, a perfect, restorative oasis. The rejuvenating quality of a beautiful home is unmatched.
What or who influenced you the most as you were developing your craft?
It is essential to experience design. From the Taj Mahal to a home you admire, inspiration and design intelligence come from being in a well-designed space, inhabiting it, feeling the patina of materials or the seeing the light filtered through a window.
What inspires you?
Architecture, nature, fashion, art, music, quiet, my children
My dream job is to be an interior designer! I started my career as an editor, and I quickly learned that it was not for me. I went to graduate school to follow my passion.
3 things you aspire to be or do:
Adventurous, mindful, empathetic
(Fill in the blank) I appreciate _______ in my life, because_______.
I appreciate the people in my life, because friends and family are priceless.
What was one of the hardest lessons or toughest obstacles you had to overcome?
One of the challenges of residential design is tapping into a client’s taste instead of imposing on a project a certain style. Individuality is what infuses life into a space!
Advice for someone who is looking to begin a new hobby/job/life pursuit:
Research, ask questions, and find out everything you can!
At the moment, I’m craving the Shrimp Roll from Leon’s Oyster Shop and anything from Meyers + Chang in Boston.
Favorite drink: Red wine and good coffee—both are essential!
Favorite quote: “Mommy, I love you from a long time ago to a galaxy far away.” –My son, Henry
